cheap art?

hey girls!

for those who don't know, we're listing our house tomorrow for a move back to colorado.

i'm in the process of frantically decluttering and staging the house as we speak.

does anyone have any suggestions for cheap art?  i have frames with family pictures in them which i know are supposed to come down.  instead of having empty walls, i'd rather replace the picture inside with something inexpensive.

any thoughts?

my initial ideas were things along the lines of wrapping paper or fabric, but we don't have a fabric store around here and i don't know if wrapping paper would work.

tia!

I've thought about this before and if it were me I'd print of pictures of nature type stuff - tress, flowers, etc. Nice pictures but nothing personal, kwim?

Ok. what I did this weekend was to buy cheap art canvases at a store called xs cargo.

they had big (check out my pictures) canvas prints for 6.98 (normally) - they were half price last week (but unfortunately not this week when I had to go back to buy more.

i did some looking on overstock before I found these and there were lots of nice ones.

the thing I like about these is that they are SO light that I can hang them with a very little nail or a push pin.

i saw some at walmart for around 20 but we obviously have different stock than you do.

This is what I have in our dining room for now.  Nothing fancy but I think something like this would work for staging.  All I did was search for images of flowers and printed them out.  You could probably find some deals at walgreens, rite aid, etc for really cheap prints!

This is the only pic I could find to show them. Bad lighting but I think it shows basically what I did.

Good luck!!!

Do you have a cost plus near you?

They've got tons of art posters/prints for cheap.

All different sizes.

When we first moved in here, we didn't have any artwork to hang.

I got big plexiglass frames at Walmart ($12) and posters from allposters.com (which shipped quickly). We did all of ours in vintage wine and liquor themes (like this http://www.allposters.com/-sp/Asti-Cinzano-c-1910-Posters_i306924_.htm) and decorated the whole house for about $150.

Good luck on your move!

thanks girls!

i had 2 flower pictures that were gorgeous that i blew up to 8x10s and put into frames i already had - $6 total.

i also bought a huge print at walmart to fill a frame i already had. $3.

sweet!

so far, for 6 sets of curtain rods, panel pairs, a decorative mantle piece, artwork and a hand towel, i've spent about $150.

thanks so much for all the ideas!

i can't wait to get this house sold!

(kristi, no cost plus here. :( but we do have them in colorado. can't wait to get back!)

You can also blow up nature pics at wal mart to poster size for 6-ish dollars.  I was just looking at it last night while picking up an order.
