If your child came home from school with...

If your child came home from school with broken glasses and no note or phone call from the teacher would you be miffed?

Lucas just got off the bus and was carrying his broken eyeglasses. He has a few minor cuts on his face. He said at recess a girl kicked him in the face and broke his glasses and I am a little upset that I didn't find out about it sooner! I understand accidents happen but I couldn't be notified? No note or call explaining what happened?!?

He has a spare pair of glasses I could have taken him. He is extremely nearsighted. He can only see things right in front of his face. And also his teacher had no way of knowing he does have a spare pair. What if we had to get him a new pair. It would be a little hard to get them this late in the day a little notice might have been nice.

Anyway, am I overreacting? I am going to email his teacher in a few and I'm trying to calm down and no go off on her

No, they should have called home or let him call home. This just happened at school the other day. We let the kid call home to see if he a spare. He did not, so the mom had to come get him to take him to get them.

I totally think an email is in order here.

I would be livid, and i would consider myself an under-reactor parent when it comes to school stuff.

I'd be livid and be emailing right away. We had an incident a couple months ago with Joe and a boy in his class, I emailed and asked if it could be officially recorded, just in case it turned into a string of events.

Agree with everyone, I would be fuming! They should have notified you immediately.

I would have been upset. Lauren fell out of her chair today and hit her chin and the school notified me. And she wasn't even hurt.  That certainly required a phone call.

Yeah the school has called me when him and a classmate accidently bumped heads. They were fine. No tears no bruises but when something like this happens no call. I emailed his teacher but haven't heard anything back yet

I would be incredibly concerned since he was cut!! What if some of the glass got in his eyes and needed urgent attention. Definately. They should have called you IMMEDIATELY!
